The Outreach Programme
An opportunity to provide services led by an experienced Chazan for communities that do not have one.
What can we offer you?
An easy-to-organise Friday night and Shabbat morning service - led by an experienced, 'Tephilharmonic-approved' Chazan - as a taster for communities that do not have their own Chazan. We suggest that your shul organises a further special event for this Shabbat, such as a Friday night Oneg Shabbat, Se'uda Shlishit or Melave Malke, and the visiting Chazan can speak and/or sing at this event too.
How will this enhance your community's Shabbat?
Traditional shul music is an important part of our heritage. It adds enjoyment and a spiritual dimension to services, using long established music that is 'in the blood' of the Jewish people and brings to life the text of the tephillot.
Which Chazanim are involved?
Currently: Eliot Alderman, Gedalya Alexander, David Apfel, Avromi Freilich, Nathan Gluck, Moshe Haschel, Steven Leas, Tzvi Lider, Johnny Murgraff, Steve Robins, Brian Segal and David Shine.
What does it cost?
The fee for the Shabbat is £250 plus expenses. This goes partly to pay the Chazan and partly to Tephilharmonic to fund our programmes. If you wish, you could invite one or more members of your community to sponsor this, such as a Ba'al Simcha.
Tephilharmonic do not want the fee to prevent smaller communities taking advantage of the programme, so if this fee presents a problem, please contact us.
